Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of therapy do you provide?

My main guiding principles are to be with you in the moment and to do what is in your best interest. Thus, the crux of what I do is to listen, understand, be in the moment with you, and attempt to see your life from your perspective.
With that said, I utilize an array of treatments in my practice. I draw from the Clinical Behavior Analysis tradition generally, especially from a Cognitive Behavioral therapy called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I also employ  Functional Analytic Psychotherapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Behavioral Activation when I feel it is best for my clients. All of the therapies that I employ are widely researched and have been scientifically shown to be effective.
Above all, it is important for me to have an understanding of your life context and unique circumstances, otherwise these treatments are dramatically less effective.

How will I know if I need therapy?

While some people might come to therapy with many symptoms that could lead to a diagnosis, many do not. As you think about going to therapy, some things you might consider are how much distress you are experiencing now, if you have been successful in alleviating stress, and if you have recently faced a crisis or difficulty with which you would like help. While there is no simple answer, the fact that you are reading this page right now suggests you are thinking about making a positive change in your life, and I would be honored to help facilitate that.
