Counseling and psychotherapy in Portland, OR and Vancouver, WA

Pain is inevitable.

Suffering isn’t.

As a psychologist and counselor in Portland, Oregon, I work to help people hold their pain with compassion, so they can enjoy their lives.  I’m experienced counseling people with a range of concerns, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, substance abuse, and others. I’m trained in a variety of psychotherapy methods supported by research. While I try to use the most effective treatments available, I’m careful to tailor them to the unique needs of each individual. A unique aspect to my practice is that I am also a clinical researcher, which allows me to stay current on the newest research on mindfulness, meditation, and trauma.  I have another website devoted to the treatment of trauma and posttraumatic stress disorder, a passion of mine.

I believe in transparency in the therapy process. I try to give people an idea of what treatment may look like within the first few sessions. My goal is to help people develop the skills to continue to improve their lives long after their treatment has ended.

As you’re thinking about embarking on a new and life-enhancing path, feel free to check out my website and let me know if you have any questions.  I wish you well on your journey.

I have two offices. My main counseling office is located in Northeast Portland, Oregon, near the Lloyd Center mall. In addition, I have an office in downtown Vancouver, Washington.
