My Training and Credentials

I am a psychologist resident in the state of Oregon. This means is that while I’ve earned my Ph.D., I must accrue additional post-doctoral hours to become officially licensed as a psychologist. I do accept ODS and Pacific Source insurance, but mostly I offer excellent care on a sliding fee scale.

I have most often worked with adults who have mood and anxiety concerns, trauma and PTSD concerns, adjustment and grief concerns, relationship concerns, and those struggling with chronic pain and other medical concerns. I have also worked with individuals with severe and persistent mental illnesses (e.g., bipolar disorder) and substance abuse problems. Sometimes, though, the problems we face as people are not best described by words like “depression,” and we have trouble around self-esteem, feeling scared or hopeless, and meaninglessness. I also help people through these concerns.

I completed my Ph.D. at the University of New Mexico. There, I practiced psychotherapy with adults, conducted research, taught classes, and was involved in administrative activities. A significant portion of my training there was in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy with Dr. Michael Dougher. In addition, I completed a year-long clinical internship at the George E. Wahlen Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salt Lake City, working with veterans returning from war and adjusting to civilian life. Both my school and internship are accredited by the American Psychological Association, which indicates that they meet rigorous training and teaching standards.
